# Getting started for creators

> Publishing on World is a short sequence: get approved, upload the files, say what they are and what people may do with them, then publish.

## Ask to become a creator [#approval]

Uploading and selling are open to approved creators: [ask to become one](https://www.benchy.studio/dashboard/become-a-creator). Once you're approved, your dashboard shows a **Publish and sell** group and the links below work. See [Become a creator](https://benchy.world/docs/selling#become-a-creator).

## Your first listing, in order [#first-listing]

1. **Upload the files.** [Upload a model](https://benchy.world/dashboard/models/new) takes the whole folder — sources, textures, a sliced 3MF, a PDF of instructions. One file is the primary, the one World checks and renders. See [Models and file checks](https://benchy.world/docs/models-and-uploads).
2. **Say what it is.** Title, description, category, tags, and how it was made. Keep it private while you work.
3. **Add the artwork.** Your own renders or photos. World makes a poster from the model if you add none.
4. **Choose a license.** You can change it later, but never for someone who already has the files. See [Choose a license](https://benchy.world/docs/creators/licensing).
5. **Decide the audience and the price.** Private, free, or paid. See [Publish and sell on World](https://benchy.world/docs/selling).
6. **Check the files passed, then publish.**

> **One upload, many formats**
>
> Upload a model once and choose the [other formats](https://benchy.world/docs/models-and-uploads#other-formats) World should make; the download carries them alongside your originals.

## What a listing is made of [#parts]

Everything below can be changed after publishing. The files and the license are fixed into each release, so a change reaches new downloads, never someone who already has the model.

| Part | Where you set it | What it decides |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Files | Upload, then the package workspace | What people download, and which file is the one World checks and shows in 3D. |
| Title, description, category and tags | The listing section of the editor | Whether search and the category pages can find it. |
| Artwork | The media section | The picture on every card, in search results and on a shared link. |
| How it was made | The listing section | Whether it appears in the human-made, AI-assisted or AI-generated views. A listing that never says is in none of them. |
| Print profiles | Read from a 3MF or G-code you upload, then corrected by you | The printer, material, time and grams shown — and the printer and material filters. |
| What it came from | The lineage section | The parent credited on your listing, and your listing appearing on theirs. |
| License | The listing section | What anyone may do with the files once they have them. |
| Audience and price | The publishing section | Private, free to download, or paid from $1.00. |

## How a model gets found [#found]

- **Search, and the category and tag pages**, read only your title, description, category and tags. A good description and three honest tags get found; “final v3” doesn't.
- **The ordered feeds**: newest, most downloaded, most liked, and Trending, which holds only listings published in the last two weeks, ranked by recent activity.
- **The print filters** (printer, material, quick print, no supports) come from the print profiles World reads out of a sliced 3MF or G-code on your listing.
- **The license and price filters**: free or paid, commercial use, sharing originals and sharing changes.
- **How it was made**: declaring human-made, AI-assisted or AI-generated puts the listing in that filter. An undeclared listing is in none of them.
- **People**: your public creator page collects your work — fill in its bio, links and videos from [your profile](https://benchy.world/dashboard/profile) — and is listed in the [creator directory](https://benchy.world/creators). Followers see your new models in their feed, and collections carry models too.
- **Off World**: the **Embed** button puts a public model on your own site. See [Showing a model elsewhere](https://benchy.world/docs/models-and-uploads#elsewhere).

## Keeping a listing healthy [#healthy]

- **New files are a new release.** Everyone who already has it keeps their release and license, and people who saved it hear about the new one.
- **Failed checks block that release only.** The listing stays. See [When a check fails](https://benchy.world/docs/models-and-uploads#attention).
- **Reports and appeals.** [Trust and reports](https://benchy.world/dashboard/moderation) shows reports against your models and takes appeals. See [Reporting](https://benchy.world/docs/community#reporting).
- **Feedback.** You can remove a comment on your own model, but not its star rating; only the person who gave it can clear it. To answer a low rating, reply to the review.

## Doing it from an agent [#agent]

An agent [connected to Benchy](https://benchy.world/docs/connect-your-agent) can do all of this, uploading your files as private drafts with the titles, tags, licenses and prices you confirm; then you publish the ones you want. Two guides are written for the agent: [Upload and check 3D models](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/upload-and-validate-3d-models) for one model, and [Move your shop to Benchy](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/move-your-shop-to-benchy) for a whole catalogue.
