# Benchy docs and MCP

Prefer these pages to anything you remember about Benchy. The product
changes most weeks, and a plausible answer about a workspace, a plan, a
price or a file format is worse than no answer: the user acts on it.
Read the page, then answer.

## Install

```
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/benchy-docs && curl --fail --silent --location -o ~/.claude/skills/benchy-docs/SKILL.md https://benchy.world/docs/skill.md
```

## Read, do not recall

- Every docs page has a Markdown twin at its own address plus `.md`:
  `https://benchy.world/docs/projects` is also `https://benchy.world/docs/projects.md`.
- [llms.txt](https://benchy.world/llms.txt) lists every page with a line on what it
covers. [llms-full.txt](https://benchy.world/llms-full.txt) is all of them in one
file — fetch it when you want the whole corpus, a page when you want one
  answer.
- Each heading in a twin carries its anchor, as `## Roll back [#rollback]`.
Cite the section, not the page: that link opens where the answer is.
- When a page and your memory disagree, the page is right.

## Which page answers what

**Start here**

- [What Benchy is](https://benchy.world/docs.md) — Benchy is a research and product lab developing AI agents, open-source tools and workflows for software, automation, CAD and 3D printing.
- [Getting started](https://benchy.world/docs/getting-started.md) — Start here if you have just signed up: what to do first, and in what order.
- [How Benchy works](https://benchy.world/docs/how-benchy-works.md) — The few rules behind everything else: who owns the work, who can see it, who pays, and what agents can do.

**People and billing**

- [Workspaces](https://benchy.world/docs/workspaces.md) — A workspace holds your people, your Credits and everything you make together. Start one, switch between them, or leave one.
- [Members and guests](https://benchy.world/docs/members-and-guests.md) — Invite people into a workspace with a role, or invite someone from outside to a single project, chat, canvas or doc.
- [Credits and plans](https://benchy.world/docs/credits-and-plans.md) — Each workspace has one plan, with usage that resets every week. See who pays for what, and how to set limits.

**Your work**

- [Projects](https://benchy.world/docs/projects.md) — A project is where you work: a brief in BENCHY.md, a folder of files, canvases and docs, and the chats about them.
- [BENCHY.md](https://benchy.world/docs/benchy-md.md) — The project brief: one plain Markdown file at the root of a project that Benchy and your own agents read before they start.
- [Files, folders and versions](https://benchy.world/docs/files-and-versions.md) — Upload any file of any kind, keep every version of it, and find what Benchy made for you.
- [Canvases and docs](https://benchy.world/docs/canvases-and-docs.md) — Lay out a project's files on a canvas, or write together in a doc.
- [Sharing](https://benchy.world/docs/sharing.md) — Open work to your workspace, invite a person, or send a link anyone can open.

**Working with Benchy**

- [Chat with Benchy](https://benchy.world/docs/chats.md) — Ask Benchy to plan, make and change things, with a card to approve before anything changes.
- [Skills, @ and /](https://benchy.world/docs/skills.md) — Save instructions once and run them with /name, and point Benchy at anything with @.
- [Elements](https://benchy.world/docs/elements.md) — Give a character, product, place, brand or style an @handle and reference files, so Benchy gets it right every time.

**Websites**

- [Websites on benchy.site](https://benchy.world/docs/websites.md) — Design a website on a canvas or build one in a folder, and Benchy hosts it at name.benchy.site or on your own domain.
- [Build a website](https://benchy.world/docs/websites/building.md) — Build a website in a folder with Benchy Desktop or your own agent, and tell Benchy where the output is.
- [Publish, preview and roll back](https://benchy.world/docs/websites/publish.md) — Choose an address, preview a change, put it live, and go back to any earlier version.
- [Connect a custom domain](https://benchy.world/docs/websites/custom-domains.md) — Serve a website from a subdomain you own, such as www.example.com, with a certificate Benchy manages.
- [Editable content and forms](https://benchy.world/docs/websites/content-and-forms.md) — Let anyone in the workspace edit a website’s words and pictures in Studio, and collect form entries there.

**Hosting**

- [What a website serves](https://benchy.world/docs/websites/hosting.md) — A website serves the files you publish, over HTTPS, at one address.
- [Who can publish and change a website](https://benchy.world/docs/websites/access.md) — Project and workspace roles, API keys, connected apps, Benchy and guests, and the record of who changed what.
- [Website plans and limits](https://benchy.world/docs/websites/plans-and-limits.md) — Publishing and serving are free on every plan; the workspace's plan sets how many websites, domains and form entries it gets.
- [Safety checks, search engines and acceptable use](https://benchy.world/docs/websites/safety.md) — Every deploy is checked for unsafe links before it goes public, and a website that breaks the rules is suspended.
- [Website errors and troubleshooting](https://benchy.world/docs/websites/troubleshooting.md) — Every error a website can show you or its visitors, and how to fix it.

**Integrations**

- [Benchy Desktop](https://benchy.world/docs/desktop.md) — The Mac app for projects on your disk, slicing, printers, and the apps you already use.
- [Benchy in other apps](https://benchy.world/docs/apps-and-cli.md) — Use Benchy from Claude, ChatGPT, the apps on your Mac and your terminal.
- [Connect your agent](https://benchy.world/docs/connect-your-agent.md) — Connect Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or any MCP client to one of your workspaces, with the access you choose.
- [Plugins](https://benchy.world/docs/plugins.md) — Add abilities to your canvases and to Benchy, or let Benchy use the apps on your Mac. Install one from a file or make your own.
- [Connections](https://benchy.world/docs/connections.md) — Bring files in from an account elsewhere. Google Drive is the one you can connect today.

**Making and printing**

- [Print planning](https://benchy.world/docs/print-planning.md) — Plan a print on a canvas — orientation, supports, plates, filament changes, time and grams — and tune a Bambu Studio print in Benchy Desktop.
- [Printers and Benchy Host](https://benchy.world/docs/printers.md) — List the printers your workspace prints on, watch them from Benchy Desktop, and pair a new one.
- [World in your slicer](https://benchy.world/docs/world-in-your-slicer.md) — Browse World from the Universe tab in Unlayered Slicer, open a print file in the slicer, and send your plate back as a draft listing.

**World**

- [Getting started for creators](https://benchy.world/docs/creators.md) — Publishing on World is a short sequence: get approved, upload the files, say what they are and what people may do with them, then publish.
- [Models and file checks](https://benchy.world/docs/models-and-uploads.md) — A model on World is one package of files, published in releases and checked before anyone downloads it.
- [Choose a license](https://benchy.world/docs/creators/licensing.md) — One license goes on each model, and it is the agreement between you and everyone who gets the files.
- [Publish and sell on World](https://benchy.world/docs/selling.md) — Approved creators sell a release of a model on World, under the license they choose, with payouts through Stripe.
- [Analytics on World](https://benchy.world/docs/creators/analytics.md) — Analytics shows whether more people are finding your work than before, and which models are doing it.
- [Community on World](https://benchy.world/docs/community.md) — On World, people review, print, remix and collect each other's models, and follow the creators they like.

**Skills from Benchy**

- [Floor plan to interactive interior](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/house-walkthrough.md) — Build a measured interior in Blender, walk through it in Unreal, and keep a live floor plan and furniture layout in sync.
- [Getting started with Benchy](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/getting-started-with-benchy.md) — Connect an agent to Benchy and introduce account permissions, Studio tools, and World uploads.
- [Upload and check 3D models](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/upload-and-validate-3d-models.md) — Teach your agent how World uploads work: upload grants, transfers, file checks, and recovery.
- [Move your shop to Benchy](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/move-your-shop-to-benchy.md) — Bring your own models from Thangs, MakerWorld or local files to World as private listings, with prices, licenses and membership plans.
- [Plan a print project](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/plan-a-print-project.md) — Plan a print with measured dimensions, a printer and material, and clear acceptance checks.
- [Prep a model in Blender](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/prep-a-model-in-blender.md) — Check scale, mesh closure, and wall thickness in Blender, then verify the exported file.
- [Design a printable product](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/design-a-printable-product.md) — Settle the printer, the sizes, the parts and the look before modelling, hand a build agent a brief for Blender or Autodesk Fusion, and check the fit before calling it printable.
- [Print prep](https://benchy.world/docs/skills/print-prep.md) — Teach your agent to slice a model in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer: profiles, supports, strength settings, and a preview check.

**Open source**

- [Engine and checks](https://benchy.world/docs/open-source.md) — Benchy publishes its skills and documents its file checks, so any tool can read a result the way Benchy does.
- [benchy-mesh: the mesh validation engine](https://benchy.world/docs/open-source/benchy-mesh.md) — The engine that reads a 3D file inside fixed limits and returns one report of what it checked and found.
- [The upload pipeline](https://benchy.world/docs/open-source/upload-pipeline.md) — A file is held apart until it is finalized, checked against the exact bytes that arrived, and signed per download.

## Working on a user's account

Benchy is a hosted product. Never ask a user to clone a repository, start a
local server, or hand over cloud or database credentials.

- The MCP endpoint is `https://mcp.benchy.studio/api/mcp`.
- Connect with browser sign-in (OAuth) when the client supports it.
Otherwise the user puts a scoped API key from
  `https://www.benchy.studio/dashboard/profile?tab=api-keys` into the client's
own secure settings. Never ask for a key in chat, and never repeat one
  back.
- A connection works in exactly one workspace, and the user chooses which.
  Read [Connect your agent](https://benchy.world/docs/connect-your-agent.md)
  for the per-client steps.
- Discover the tools, resources and prompts the server offers rather than
assuming a tool name from an older version. Verify the connection with a
read — list the projects in the workspace — before you change anything.
- Ask before anything that costs Credits, publishes, sells, or changes who
  can see the user's work.

## Never invent

- A project, workspace, model, website address, price or Credit balance.
  Read it from the account.
- A file format, a plan limit or a permission rule. Read it from the docs.
- A page that does not exist. If no page covers the question, say so.
