Getting started for creators

Publishing on World is a short sequence: get approved, upload the files, say what they are and what people may do with them, then publish.

Ask to become a creator

Uploading and selling are open to approved creators: ask to become one. Once you're approved, your dashboard shows a Publish and sell group and the links below work. See Become a creator.

Your first listing, in order

  1. Upload the files. Upload a model takes the whole folder — sources, textures, a sliced 3MF, a PDF of instructions. One file is the primary, the one World checks and renders. See Models and file checks.
  2. Say what it is. Title, description, category, tags, and how it was made. Keep it private while you work.
  3. Add the artwork. Your own renders or photos. World makes a poster from the model if you add none.
  4. Choose a license. You can change it later, but never for someone who already has the files. See Choose a license.
  5. Decide the audience and the price. Private, free, or paid. See Publish and sell on World.
  6. Check the files passed, then publish.

What a listing is made of

Everything below can be changed after publishing. The files and the license are fixed into each release, so a change reaches new downloads, never someone who already has the model.

How a model gets found

  • Search, and the category and tag pages, read only your title, description, category and tags. A good description and three honest tags get found; “final v3” doesn't.
  • The ordered feeds: newest, most downloaded, most liked, and Trending, which holds only listings published in the last two weeks, ranked by recent activity.
  • The print filters (printer, material, quick print, no supports) come from the print profiles World reads out of a sliced 3MF or G-code on your listing.
  • The license and price filters: free or paid, commercial use, sharing originals and sharing changes.
  • How it was made: declaring human-made, AI-assisted or AI-generated puts the listing in that filter. An undeclared listing is in none of them.
  • People: your public creator page collects your work — fill in its bio, links and videos from your profile — and is listed in the creator directory. Followers see your new models in their feed, and collections carry models too.
  • Off World: the Embed button puts a public model on your own site. See Showing a model elsewhere.

Keeping a listing healthy

  • New files are a new release. Everyone who already has it keeps their release and license, and people who saved it hear about the new one.
  • Failed checks block that release only. The listing stays. See When a check fails.
  • Reports and appeals. Trust and reports shows reports against your models and takes appeals. See Reporting.
  • Feedback. You can remove a comment on your own model, but not its star rating; only the person who gave it can clear it. To answer a low rating, reply to the review.

Doing it from an agent

An agent connected to Benchy can do all of this, uploading your files as private drafts with the titles, tags, licenses and prices you confirm; then you publish the ones you want. Two guides are written for the agent: Upload and check 3D models for one model, and Move your shop to Benchy for a whole catalogue.
