These rules hold everywhere: in Studio, Benchy Desktop, World, and through your own agents. The rest of the docs build on them.

The workspace owns the work and pays for it

Everything made in a workspace belongs to the workspace, not to the person who made it, and stays when that person leaves. Each workspace has one plan and one pool of credits, which pays for every AI feature used in it: Benchy's replies, generations and plugin tools. See Credits and plans.

Access is set once, at the top

Projects, chats, skills and Elements are either private or open to the workspace. Everything inside a project has the project's access: a file can't be more private than its project. Inviting someone to one thing only ever adds access; it never takes any away. See Sharing.

An agent works for one person, in one workspace

Your own agents, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, connect with an API key or as a connected app. Each one works in exactly one workspace, chosen when you connect it. It can do only what its connection allows and only what you can do right now, checked on every action. If your access changes, your agent's changes with it.

Benchy acts as whoever asked

When you ask Benchy something, it reads and writes with your access, and only you can approve the changes it wants to make. The chat's workspace pays, and the charge names you. In a chat with other people, a member who can edit gets answers that can make changes, behind approval cards only they answer. Members who can view and guests get read-only answers: Benchy can look, explain and plan, but not change anything. See Chats.

What you point at is pinned when you send it

When you @ a file or an Element in a message, Benchy checks that you can open it and records the exact version you sent. Everyone in the chat can then open that version. The picker tells you before you send if someone in the chat will see it for the first time. See @ and /.

What keeps a file version

Every file keeps its versions until you delete them. Two things stop a version from being deleted: a World release that published it, or an Element that uses it. Once a version is published on World, it belongs to the listing and no longer counts against the workspace's storage. Chats remember which versions they mentioned, but never keep them alive.

A person approves every print

Benchy and other agents plan prints and make the print files; people start the prints, on the printer or in its app. No agent or plugin can start a print, send a file to a printer, or resume a print. See Printers and Benchy Host.

Everything says who did it

Every change, charge and message records the person behind it and the agent or app it came through, for example “Ada, through Claude Code”. A file shows where it came from, such as “Made in chat Bracket plan with Claude”, and a canvas edit shows whether Benchy, a plugin or an app made it.
