Workspaces

A workspace holds your people, your credits and everything you make together. Start one, switch between them, or leave one.

What's in a workspace

PartWhat it holds
PeopleOne owner, the members who can edit or view, and guests on single projects or chats
Plan and creditsOne plan and one credit pool that pays for everything used here
ProjectsFiles, canvases, docs, chats and each project's brief
LibrarySkills, Elements, plugins, starters and connections
PrintersThe profiles of the printers people here can plan with
ChatsChats that belong to no project yet

Your home workspace

Signing up makes your first workspace. It is your home workspace, and it is an ordinary workspace in every way: you can invite people into it, and it has its own plan and credits. Two things make it special:

  • Benchy Desktop puts the projects you open on your Mac here, as private projects, until you move or share them.
  • The skills you can edit here follow you: they appear under Your skills when you type / in any other workspace.

Start another workspace

Choose New workspace from the workspace menu and give it a name. You become its owner. A new workspace starts on the Free plan with its own credits; nothing is shared with your other workspaces. A common setup is one workspace for your own work and one for each client or team.

Switch workspaces

The workspace menu lists every workspace you belong to. Switching changes what you see: projects, chats, library and credits all belong to the workspace you're in. Benchy Desktop has the same menu.

API keys and connected apps don't switch. Each one stays in the workspace it was made for; connect another if an agent should work somewhere else. See Connect your agent.

What stays yours

Some things in a workspace belong to one member and nobody else sees them:

  • My files, your private folder for files that aren't in a project yet.
  • Your chats, until you share them.
  • Projects, skills and Elements you've kept private.
  • What Benchy remembers about you. Memories are kept per person in each workspace, so facts from one client never reach another. Facts the whole team should share belong in an Element.

The workspace owner can't open these while you're a member.

When someone leaves

Leave a workspace from its settings, or the owner can remove you. What you made stays with the workspace:

  • Your files, including My files, go to the workspace owner.
  • Your private chats stay private and are archived until the owner deletes them.
  • Your API keys and connected apps for that workspace stop working at once.
  • If Benchy is answering one of your messages, it stops.

Hand over or delete a workspace

A workspace has exactly one owner. The owner can hand it to a member who can edit, from the workspace's settings. Deleting a workspace deletes everything in it, except file versions that live World models have published: those belong to the listings.

Deleting your account hands each workspace you own to another member, or deletes it if nobody else is in it.
