Plugins
Install plugins to give Benchy new tools, connect it to apps on your Mac, or add panels to Studio.
What plugins add
A plugin is a package that gives Benchy new abilities. One plugin can add any of these:
| Ability | Example |
|---|---|
| Tools and skills for Benchy | Print planning: measure, slice, check and plan across printers |
| Apps on your Mac, through Benchy Desktop | Blender, Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer |
| Panels in Studio | A colour picker for a brand Element in the canvas side panel |
Install a plugin
The workspace owner installs plugins, from Plugins in the workspace's library or from the Community on World, and approves what each one can reach. Only the owner can install, disable or remove a plugin, or approve it again when a new release asks for more.
Once installed, the owner and members who can edit can run the plugin. Members who can view and guests never run plugins, even on something they were invited to edit. A plugin that works with apps on a Mac also installs in Benchy Desktop on each Mac that uses it; Desktop asks the first time.
Pin a plugin to a project so its skills come first when you type / there.
What a plugin needs
A plugin shows what it needs as tags: other plugins, a connection, Benchy Desktop, or printers. Before it runs, Benchy says what's missing and how to set it up, for example “Measuring needs Benchy Desktop. Open this chat in Desktop, or I can plan from your printer profiles instead.”
Permissions and safety
- A plugin declares what it can do, such as reading files, running on your Mac, or using an app. It runs sandboxed, with only those permissions.
- Each plugin tool that changes something asks for approval, like any other Benchy change.
- Plugins follow the same print rule as every agent; see How Benchy works.
- World reviews plugins from other makers before listing them. Plugins from Benchy are marked as Benchy's.
Updates
An installed plugin is a copy of one release; see Installing from the Community for updates. A new release that asks for more shows what changed, and the owner approves it before it runs.
Plugins in other agents
Benchy plugins use the same package format Claude Code, Codex and Cursor install. Choose Install in Claude Code (or another agent) on a plugin's page to use it there, connected to your workspace through Benchy's MCP.
Make your own
A plugin is a folder with a manifest, its skills and its tools. Publish it to the Community with a license, or keep it private to your workspace.
