Members and guests
Invite people into a workspace with a role, or invite someone from outside to a single project, chat, canvas or doc.
Roles

| Owner | Everything a member who can edit can do, plus inviting and removing members, billing, the plan and workspace settings. Each workspace has one owner. |
| Can edit | Open, create and change anything open to the workspace; invite guests to a single item they can edit; ask Benchy to make changes, and approve them. |
| Can view | Open and download anything open to the workspace, comment, post in chats they're in, and ask Benchy questions. |
| Guest | Someone outside the workspace, invited to one project, chat, canvas or doc, as Can edit or Can view on that one thing. |
Invite members
The owner opens Members in the workspace's settings, chooses Invite, enters one or more email addresses, and picks a role. People who already have a Benchy account see the invitation the next time they sign in. Anyone else gets an email and joins when they sign up with that address.
Inviting is free. Benchy doesn't charge per person: the workspace's plan and credits pay for what everyone uses. See Credits and plans.
Invite a guest
Anyone with Can edit on a project, chat, canvas or doc can invite a guest to that single item: choose Share and enter an email address that isn't in the workspace. That person becomes a guest on that one item, as Can edit or Can view. Only the owner invites members. A guest on a project sees everything inside it. A guest never sees the rest of the workspace: no other projects, and nothing in the library.
The invitation waits until someone signs in with that email address. If a guest later joins the workspace as a member, their guest access folds into their role.
What people see
Members see everything open to the workspace, at their role. They don't see anything private: another member's private chats, private projects or My files, or what Benchy remembers about someone else. Adding a member never reveals what was private before.
Benchy and roles
Benchy works with the access of whoever asks, so what it can do follows the asker's role. Plugins run only for the Owner and members who can edit; guests never run plugins. See How Benchy works and the limits on spending.
Change a role or remove someone
The owner can change a member's role or remove them from Members. Anyone who can edit a project, chat, canvas or doc can remove a guest from it. Changes apply at once, including to that person's agents: a removed person's API keys and connected apps stop working in the workspace, and if Benchy is answering them, it stops.
