An Element is something Benchy should get right every time: a character, a brand, a product, a style, a place or a font. Each one has an @handle, a few lines of guidance, and reference files. Elements live in the workspace's library and are private or open to the workspace. Handles are unique in each workspace.

Kinds of Element

Make an Element

Open Elements and choose New Element, pick its kind, give it a handle, and add reference files of any type. Or ask Benchy: “Make @olive a character from these three images.” Reference files can come from your projects or be uploaded directly.

Use an Element

Type @ and the handle in a chat, on a canvas prompt bar or in Benchy Desktop. Benchy uses the Element's guidance and files, so the character, product or brand looks the same across every image, model and document. A project can pin one brand Element that Benchy follows for everything in it.

Shared facts belong here rather than in Benchy's memory. A brand's colours in a brand Element reach everyone in the workspace; a memory reaches only you.

Brands and DESIGN.md

A brand Element can import and export a DESIGN.md: one portable file with the brand's colours, type, spacing, components and voice, which any agent can read. Import one to set up a brand in seconds; export one to give the brand to Claude Code, Codex or a design tool. It does for a brand what BENCHY.md does for a project.

Fonts

Add font files (.ttf, .otf, .woff2) to a font or brand Element and they show a specimen. Benchy uses them when it lays out images, labels and documents, and a brand's DESIGN.md names them. Check that a font's license allows the use you have in mind before you share work made with it.

Revisions

Every change to an Element makes a new revision, and a chat records the revision it used. The current revision keeps its files: they can't be deleted while it uses them. An older revision shows “file no longer available” for a file that was deleted after the Element stopped using it.

Element packs

Publish Elements to the Community as a pack, such as a set of characters or a style collection, or install someone else's into your workspace.
