Projects
A project is where you work: a brief in BENCHY.md, a folder of files, canvases and docs, and the chats about them.
What's in a project
A project holds one piece of work and everything about it, in one folder tree you arrange yourself. Projects in Studio lists the workspace's projects, with Shared with you for projects other people invited you to, and Trash. A project page shows its files first, then BENCHY.md, then its canvases, docs and chats.

Start a project
- New project in Studio starts an empty project. Give it a name and a one-line description, which appears under its title.
- Use starter copies a ready-made project into the workspace. See Starters.
- Open a folder in Benchy Desktop links a folder on your Mac to a project. See Benchy Desktop.
- Ask Benchy in a chat to start one for you.
BENCHY.md
BENCHY.md is a plain Markdown file at the root of every project. It says what the project is, the decisions made so far, and which skills, Elements and plugins to use. Benchy reads it at the start of every chat in the project. Because it's an ordinary file, Claude Code, Codex and any other agent can read it too, and it travels with the files when you download or copy them.

## Decisions

- 0.4 mm nozzle; walls at least 1.6 mm.The project page shows it in its own panel, where you can edit it, and share links include it. Uploading a BENCHY.md to the top of the project replaces it with a new version. Ask Benchy to keep it up to date as decisions are made. Studio edits files up to 64 KB; a longer one shows its start and is edited on your computer.
Skills, Elements and plugins
A project can pin the skills, Elements and plugins it uses, from the project's settings or by naming them in BENCHY.md. Pinned items come first when you type / or @ in the project. A project can pin one brand Element, which Benchy follows for colours, type and voice.
If a pinned plugin isn't installed, or needs something you don't have yet, such as Benchy Desktop or a printer, the project says so and offers to set it up.
Who sees a project
A new project is open to the workspace: every member can open it at their role. Make it private to keep it to yourself and the people you invite. Members who can view see a note saying so, and can ask the owner for Can edit. Everything inside a project has the project's access. See Sharing.

Move or delete
Choose Move to workspace to move a project, with all its files, canvases, docs and chats, into another workspace you can edit in. Deleting a project moves it to the trash, where you can restore it for 30 days. File versions published on World stay with their listings.
