Sharing
Open work to your workspace, invite a person, or send a link anyone can open.
Three ways to share

Choose Share on any of these to see who has access and to change it.
Private or workspace
Projects, skills and Elements start open to the workspace. Chats start private, and so do projects that Benchy Desktop links from your Mac. In a project's Share dialog, Who can open it is either Everyone in the workspace or Only me and people I invite.
Access is set at the top and flows down. Everything in a project has the project's access, so you never need to share files one by one inside it. To keep something narrower than its project, put it in another project or in My files.
Invite a person
Enter a name or email address in the Share dialog and choose Can edit or Can view. Anyone with Can edit on the item can do this. Members of the workspace get access right away. Anyone else becomes a guest on that single item when they sign in with that email address; only the owner invites people into the workspace itself. Inviting only adds access: it can never make something more private for people who could already open it. See Members and guests.
Share links
A share link lets anyone who has it open a project, folder or file without a Benchy account. In the project's Share dialog, under Share links, choose:
- What the link allows: View shows the files in the browser, and the page says “Downloads are turned off for this link.” View and download adds Download all and a download for each file.
- Expires: never, or in 1, 7 or 30 days.
Copy the link when Benchy shows it: it can't be shown again. A link never allows editing. It opens on any device until it expires or someone who can edit the project turns it off. A link to a project or folder shows what's in it now, including files added later, and a project link includes its BENCHY.md. The shared page names no person.
Canvases have their own read-only share links. Chats have none; invite people instead.
Sharing in a chat
When you @ a file, doc or Element in a chat message, everyone in the chat can open the exact version you sent, even if they couldn't open it before. Before you send, the picker names anyone who will see it for the first time. See @ and /.
Stop sharing
Remove a person or turn off a link from the Share dialog; it takes effect at once. Making a project private removes access for members you haven't invited. Files people already downloaded stay with them.
