Publish from a project

Turn files in a project into a model on World, credited to you or your team.

Publish files from a project

  1. Select the files in a project, or a whole folder, and choose Publish to World. You can also type /publish in a chat.
  2. Add a title, description, category and pictures. Choose which file is the main model, and what the others are: print files, source files, instructions, images.
  3. Choose who can see it (private, unlisted or public), a license, and whether it's free or paid. See Selling on World.
  4. World checks the files. When the checks pass, publish. See Models and file checks.

Nothing is uploaded twice: World publishes the exact file versions from your project.

Who the model belongs to

You publish, and the model appears on your World creator profile. If you publish from a team's workspace, you can credit the team's World organization as well. Payouts for paid models go to the person who publishes, into their own Stripe account, even when a team's organization is credited.

What happens to the files

Publishing pins the exact versions you chose. Those versions then belong to the World listing:

  • They no longer count against the workspace's storage.
  • They can't be deleted from the project, so people who downloaded or bought the model keep access.
  • Changing the file in the project makes a new version there; the listing keeps the one it published until you publish a new release.
  • If the person who published leaves the workspace, the listing is unaffected.

Publish a new release

When files in the project have newer versions than the listing, the project and the listing both show Update World listing. Choosing it publishes a new release with the current versions, after the checks pass. People who already have the model keep the release and license they got.

Publish from an agent

Benchy and any connected agent can prepare a listing from project files and publish it with your approval. See Connect your agent.
